Tradition and rebellion can walk hand in hand
During the recent era of my adolescence, I spent countless Saturday nights simultaneously engaging in two seemingly unrelated activities: skateboarding and watching live bluegrass. As I remember, the microscopic mountain town of Tallulah Falls often was the backdrop for a strange intermingling of my punk-rock impulse to rebel and my knowledge that tradition largely produced the folk, country and bluegrass music that molded me. Pleasantly, I recalled these interminglings Sept. 29 while watching some very talented ladies perform at Little King's Shuffle Club.
